Welcome to the Dermatology Group of Southern California in Hermosa Beach. Hermosa Beach lies between Manhattan Beach to the north and Redondo Beach to the south in southern California. The tiny city enjoys an average of 325 sunny days per year, which is a lot of sunshine. Not surprisingly activities like surfing, sunbathing, beach volleyball and paddleboarding are popular and because of the mild Mediterranean climate, most can be enjoyed all year round.
All this sunshine and the plethora of outdoor activities on offer in Hermosa Beach mean that it’s vital you are aware of the damage the sun and solar radiation can do to your skin and that you take appropriate skin care measures to prevent or reduce the likelihood of developing serious conditions like skin cancer and cancerous melanomas. Simple things like putting on sunscreen, wearing protective clothing and plopping a hat on your head whilst outdoors all help considerably and take only a few seconds to do.
Other common conditions we see in sun-damaged skin include sun spots (solar keratoses or actinic keratoses), brown or age spots (liver spots or solar lentigines), freckles, redness, roughness and enlarged capillaries.
If you require assistance with anything to do with your skin or are at all concerned about any changes you’ve noticed to moles or spots please feel free to contact us and have a chat to one of our experienced dermatologists on (310) 543-4444 or contact us via our website.
At the Dermatology Group of Southern California we also treat a range of other skin conditions like warts, moles, genital warts, Psoriasis, Eczema, rashes, acne, varicose veins, spider veins, hyper pigmentation, Rosacea, skin allergies and contact dermatitis.
To help combat the effects of the sun and life’s experiences in general we have a variety of anti aging therapies that stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production, target areas of excessive melanin to smooth out spots and patches of hyperpigmentation, reduce the appearance of enlarged capillaries and generally help to restore and repair your skin. Amongst the most common treatments we use are MiXto Laser, Photofacial IPL, Microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
As a beach side city, it is to be expected that most activities revolve around the sea but the city does offer a range of seasonal activities that are more cultural in nature. Fiesta Hermosa is an arts and crafts festival held every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. The Hermosa Beach Film Festival is usually run in August and features short films screened at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse. There is also a series of free sunset concerts on the beach during August and you must catch the Shakespeare by the Sea performances done by the South Bay’s free Shakespeare in the Park company. If jazz is your thing, you can catch some action at the Lighthouse Café and for a great night of laughs and comedy head to the Comedy and Magic Club to catch comedian Jay Leno’s act.
